Hastelloy C22 is a refined variant of alloy C, a nickel-chromium-molybdenum tungsten buttweld fitting with excellent weldability and corrosion resistance in localized and uniform corrosive environments. This grade can be used in a wide range of chemical components and strong oxidizers such as ferric chlorides and hot contaminated areas, seawater, and several other environments. This grade is also resistant to grain-boundary precipitation, as defined by the C276 alloy. Hastelloy C22 is generally not advised at temperatures exceeding 1250°F due to the formation of harmful phases at higher temperatures. The C22 is considered a high-carbon alloy that has a carbon percentage of up to 0.15%. On the other hand, C276 is limited to 0.10% only, not the major difference.
